Arrival of Sweden on the 2020 DTM calendar

The German Touring Championship (DTM) announced Thursday September 19 its calendar for the 2020 season. This will include 10 rounds on as many different circuits.

One of the main changes concerns the arrival of the Anderstorp track (Sweden) during the weekend of 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 12-14). No international competition has run there since the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in 2007:

“This will open up a new and important motorsport market”, indicates Achin Kostron, the boss of ITR (organizer of the DTM). The other big novelty is the excursion planned to Monza (Italy, June 26-28), already announced on the sidelines of the Italian Grand Prix of F1

The tradition of opening and closing the championship at Hockenheim is also changed. The German track will only host the final (October 2-4), the honor of launching hostilities going to Zolder (Belgium, April 24-26).

Finally, an unknown remains. The date of May 29-31 is reserved for the third DTM meeting, although the destination is not yet known. « We still have a surprise up our sleeves. And she’s very exciting”, promises Achim Kostron.
