Audi reiterates its commitment to DTM for 2019

Audi Sport has revealed its plans for 2019. Formula e will be one of the cornerstones of the exercise, thanks to the training Audi Sport ABT by Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt like previous seasons, but the main information comes from the extension of the commitment in the German Touring Championship (DTM), despite Mercedes' withdrawal at the end of 2018.

According to our information, this commitment would only be effective the sine qua none condition for the arrival of a third manufacturer in 2020. If no announcement is made to this effect even before the start of the 2019 season, then Audi would withdraw from the DTM with immediate effect. But the official press release does not specify this.

“I am convinced that we are perfectly positioned with our two commitments, underlines Dieter Gass, boss of the Motorsport branch of the Rings brand. We proved our effectiveness in electric mobility by winning the Teams title in our first season in Fe.

We continue to see great potential in the DTM thanks to the arrival of the four-cylinder turbo engine. Regarding the need to have a third manufacturer in the championship, I have full confidence in Gerhard Berger (DTM boss)."
