Audi builds itself in defeat

Audi Sport took stock of its season DTM ; it?s not bright. If the firm with the rings was able to "end" the year with a victory for Timo Scheider at Adria, 2010 was a very bad vintage for the German manufacturer: spectacular accidents, strategic, technical or administrative errors, Audi was not saving. The season was marked by the extreme domination of Mercedes, which placed three of its drivers in the first three places in the championship.

But, in this crushing defeat, Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich hopes to find the recipe for victory. The phoenix wants to rise from its ashes by taking advantage of the solidarity of its members. “The most difficult season we have ever faced is now behind us. It was important that everyone gave their best,” Dr Ullrich told Audi Sport staff involved in DTM, drivers, mechanics and engineers, in a video published by the manufacturer.

Wolfgang Ullrich believes the defeat can help Audi rebuild. “But it was even more important to support each other. Because it?s easy to be strong when you win but it?s much harder when you lose. So I have to say to you: thank you for this difficult season. We could certainly have done better, we have several things to improve and I am sure that that is what we will do. »

Audi Sport, in 2011, will have two major challenges in DTM: regaining the upper hand over Mercedes, which has dominated the season which has just passed; prepare for the 2012 season, which will be one of renewal since the major change in regulations will lead to the development of new cars. Audi will thus prepare its new weapon, the R17 DTM, in order to compete against Mercedes? and BMW, which will return to the discipline in 2012.
