Blancpain Sprint Series – The Grasser wins the Battle of Britain

Two races and two victories for the duo Jeroen Bleekemolen – Harry Proczyk this Sunday during the second round of the 2014 Blancpain Sprint Series. This morning in the qualifying race, the Lamborghini Gallardo of Grasser Racing played a nice trick on the Audi R8 LMS Ultra by Laurens Vanthoor – Cesar Ramos (Belgian Club Audi Team WRT) and at the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 from HTP Motorsport of both Maximilian Buhk and Götz. Then second, Bleekemolen delayed his passage to the pits as much as possible. Good pick since on the next lap after the stopping of the leading Audi of Vanthoor, Alex Zanardi (BMW – ROAL Motorsport) made a mistake before the pit straight and caused the entry of the Safety Car, which took advantage to Bleekemolen who handed over to Proczyk when the peloton was slowed down by the safety car. Emerging in the lead, Proczyk would subdue the attacks of the HTP Mercedes to win the qualifying race.

For the main round, Bleekemolen and Proczyk this time dominated from start to finish, ahead of the Mercedes of Buhk – Götz and the BMW Z4 of Sergio Jimenez and Caca Bueno for a second time, for the same podium as this morning. But it is behind that the feat of this Sunday lies with the superb comeback of Alex Zanardi, from 17th to 5th place in the final. On a route where he twice won Paralympic gold in 2012 in Hand-Bike, the Italian made up for his morning mistake and concluded this English weekend in style. E Silver Cup, after the victory in C1 of the duo Colombo – Fumanelli (BMW), it is Vincent Abril and Mateusz Lisowski who win as in Nogaro. The Pro-Am category was dominated by the Basseng – Latif duo on their Phoenix Racing Audi R8. The Sprint Series competitors will meet from July 4 to 6 in Zandvoort in the Netherlands.
