Clairay at Marc VDS in Portimao and Navarra

Competed in the French Rally Championship in the Clio R3 Trophy and Blancpain Endurance Series on a Aston Martin DBRS9 from the French team Hexis AMR, Yann Clairay will do two stints in the FIA GT1 world championship this year. The Frenchman, who already has one victory in the discipline to his credit (last year, in Argentina in San Luis, with Hexis and Frédéric Makowiecki) will defend the colors of the Marc VDS Racing Team on these occasions.

“Fred races with Maxime (Martin) in the World Championship at Marc VDS, but he is also involved in an Intercontinental program Le Mans Cup with another team (Luxury Racing, editor’s note), explains Yann Clairay. The two championships compete twice and Fred suggested to Maxime that I team up with him in Portugal and Spain. I have just returned from Belgium where I was able to get to know the team managed by Jean-Michel Delporte and my new teammate. I also worked on my driving position in the cockpit of the Ford GT. It is a car that is just as legendary but very different from the Aston Martin and the Corvette that I have already driven. I will thus broaden my field of experience in GT with, for the first time, a car with a central rear engine. I will do my best to be up to this new challenge. The objective will be to ride at the pace of Fred and Maxime, who are two undisputed references in the discipline. »

Yann Clairay will therefore be on deck next week in Portugal at Portimao, before returning the weekend of July 7 to Navarra in Spain.
