GT – BMW relies on the M6 ​​GT3 to replace the Z4

The BMW Z4 GT3 is one of the many GTs that drive the various pelotons on world circuits, particularly in the Blancpain GT Series. With numerous successes, the Germans are very popular but will see their replacement arrive by 2016, in the person of the M6 ​​GT3. BMW Motorsport announced today that the M6 ​​Coupe will serve as the basis for the development of their future weapon. Powered by the in-house 8-cylinder twin-turbo engine, specially modified for racing, the M6 ​​GT3 aims to offer a reliable and inexpensive solution for interested teams who will be able to place orders during 2015.

“For me, as head of BMW Motorsport, the development of a completely new car will be very interesting, said Jens Marquardt. The BMW Z4 GT3 has enjoyed worldwide success in recent years, and is very popular with our customers. We obviously want to follow up on this success with the M6. After all, the goal is to provide our customers with the best possible equipment. We also want to demonstrate the BMW M substance in motorsport. We are all very excited to see it in action during the first tests. »

Tests which are already planned for the first quarter of 2015. The exact date for taking orders will be revealed later.
