Engaged in FIA GT3 in 2009, Christoffer Nygaard particularly stood out by winning an event at Oschersleben in Germany. This year, the Dane will continue at the wheel of the Ford GT but will also participate in the new FIA GT1 world championship at the wheel of a Aston Martin entered by the Young Driver AMR. At 23, he will share the wheel of the Aston Martin DB9 with the German Stefan Mücke, champion Le Mans Series last year.
« He?s a great guy to work with and he?s extremely fast, so I?ve got a lot to learn from him. He doesn't want to hide anything. He wants me to improve so that his chances of winning increase, I think we are a good duo and we will be strong. »
Whether in GT1 or GT3, the Danish driver's ambitions are high even if he admits that the potential of the forces present in the world championship is difficult to assess. We will have to wait for the first meeting in Abu Dhabi to find out more.
« Like last year there will be a great fight in GT3 this season, I absolutely want to finish on the podium and we will try to be regularly in the points. In GT1 we want to win, obviously, especially since I know that I have a great car and a very fast teammate, but I think it?s a little early to know where we are in the hierarchy , all depending on the equivalences. But obviously I want to be world champion, the highest goal there is, but the competition is going to be interesting with the 23 other cars. But we will do our best to get there. »
Start of hostilities for Christoffer Nygaard, the weekend of April 18 for GT1, and that of May 2 for GT3.
