Swiss Racing aims high in Portimão

Just like the Formula 1, the FIA GT1 World Championship took a three-week break before resuming this weekend. The protagonists will meet at the Portimão circuit for the third round of the season. Fourth in the championship race in Zolder, Swiss Racing hopes to play the leading roles in Portugal.

“We used the time available after the last race wisely to prepare the cars, explains Othmar Welti, the boss of the Swiss team. From now on we must qualify the No. 5 (of Karl Wendlinger and Peter Kox, editor's note) in Q3, and the No. 6 (of Max Nilsson and Jiri Janak, editor's note) for Q2. We want to score as many points as possible in Portugal, and hope that nothing happens with the cars during the weekend because there is then only a week before the German meeting at the Sachsenring track. »

“We are looking forward to Portimao, and hope to score points with both cars” admits Team Manager Erich Kolb, who found additional motivation in the Wendlinger-Kox crew's 4th place in Belgium.

After swapping its Nissan GT-Rs for Lamborghini Murcielagos last winter, the Swiss Racing Team hopes to secure its first podium in the discipline at this Lusitanian meeting.
