Maserati takes advantage

After its victory during the first round of the GT1 championship, at Silverstone, the Saleen S7 of the Wendlinger/Sharp crew was ideally placed this Saturday at the end of qualifying. But, for non-compliance with the regulations, the K plus K team car was declassified. FIA stewards ruled that the aerodynamic elements did not meet the requirements of the regulations.

It is therefore the Vitaphone team which benefits, by placing its two Maserati MC 12s in the first two places on the grid. The Bertolini/Bartels team, reigning FIA GT world champion, will therefore have the advantage of pole, to get back on track with a view to a new world crown.
