“The 24 Hours of the Nürburgring are not only the biggest event in Germany, but the Nordschleife is above all the trickiest and most difficult track in the world,” relates Doctor Wolfgang Ullrich. “Just as Seibring is for prototypes, the Nürburgring is an ideal place to showcase the potential of all-new competition cars. This is our objective for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, to demonstrate the capabilities of the Audi R8 LMS before starting delivery to our customers. »
The Audi R8 LMS has already participated in two preparation races, with a podium finish already. A new “test” race is scheduled for May 2.
Four cars, fourteen drivers and two teams, Audi's deployment is impressive for this legendary event. On the occasion of the hundred years of the Audi brand, Timo Scheider (Champion DTM 2008), Mattias Ekström (DTM Champion 2004 and 2007) and Marco Werner (triple winner of the 24H of Le Mans) will display the number 100.
The resources deployed make it easy to imagine Audi's ambitions. A victory would look great to open the Audi R8 LMS track record. The start of the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring will be given on May 23 at 16 p.m.
