SRO withdraws from FIA GT1 promotion

This is a big blow for the GT1 world championship, as well as for the GT3 European championship, Stéphane Ratel, founder and CEO of SRO, told the GT Commission, which met on Tuesday 17 July in Paris, that SRO was no longer going to promote these two competitions in the future.

SRO withdraws from FIA GT1 promotion

Despite this decision, the Commission provided its support to the promoters as well as the teams in order to finish the 2012 season in style to reward the investments made by the competitors this year. A revised schedule will also be revealed at the end of the week.

Stefal Ratel hopes that this decision will not end a long and fruitful collaboration between the SRO and the FIA, since several solutions are currently being studied. A press conference will be given by SRO on Friday July 27 at 13:00 p.m. in Belgium, during the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, a flagship event on the SRO calendar.
