Super GT – Jean-Karl Vernay takes the wheel at Honda

In mid-December, we informed you same here tests in which Jean-Karl Vernay took part in Japan, on behalf of Honda. The Frenchman has apparently convinced the Japanese firm, since the latter has indeed decided to hire his services this year in Super GT. The 26-year-old native of Villeurbanne will succeed his compatriot Frédéric Makowiecki within Weider Modulo Racing, thus being entrusted with the only Honda NSX GT-Concept equipped with Michelin tires. His teammate will be 25-year-old Japanese Naoki Yamamoto, 2013 Super Formula champion.

Close friend of Loïc duval, “JK” will debut in a discipline that is undergoing rapid change, since from this year, the GT 500s will have common chassis with the DTM with the aim of limiting costs. On the engine side, the old V8s give way to 2,0-liter turbocharged four-cylinders with direct injection. Although he will have everything to discover, he hopes to be able to perpetuate the tradition of victorious French pilots in the Land of the Rising Sun.

A noter que Honda a également recruté le Belge de 27 ans Bertrand Baguette et l’Italien de 32 ans Vitantonio Liuzzi. Après Toyota (Lexus) la semaine dernière (see here), this morning it was the Tokyo brand's turn to reveal its assets. The years go by, but the Super GT does not seem to lose its splendor, nor its appeal for the best European drivers.
