Despite efforts and progress to counter it, Australia still has to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. A situation which logically has repercussions on local championships such as Supercars.

The flagship discipline of Australian Tourism has indeed been forced to reshuffle its calendar for the rest of the season due to the health crisis. Currently on break, the 2021 season will resume at Winton on October 2 and 3, while the Auckland round in New Zealand (November 6 and 7) has been canceled for the second consecutive year.

The legendary Bathurst 1000 event is kept on the program but with a new date. It will in fact not take place from October 7 to 10 but from November 4 to 7. For their part, the rounds of Sydney SuperNight (November 19-21) and Gold Coast (December 3-5) will close the 2021 campaign.

« Given the ever-evolving Covid-19 situation, our teams and broadcast partners have agreed that it is in everyone's commercial and competitive best interests to postpone our main event (Bathurst 1000. Editor’s note) at a later date, indicates Sean Seamer, CEO of Supercars, who also regrets the cancellation of the Perth round. Unfortunately, the meeting planned in Perth presents a significant risk with the current restrictions. So we made the difficult decision to move it to the 2022 season ».

With the Perth meeting canceled, the management of the Australian championship is now looking for a new location to replace it on October 23 and 24.

Continuation of the updated calendar

  • Winton – October 2 to 3
  • Location to be confirmed – October 23 and 24
  • Bathurst 1000 – November 4 to 7
  • Sydney SuperNight – November 19 to 21
  • Gold Coast – December 3-5
