Initially planned for 2021 then pushed back to 2022 before finally being postponed to 2023, the Gen3 made its first public appearance. To present it, the organizers chose no better place than Bathurst, scene of the last round of the season.

At Mount Panorama, spectators and even drivers were able to admire two prototypes expected to enter the competition in 2023 only: a Chevrolet Camaro and a Ford Mustang, coming considerably closer to the production models that we see on the roads of the world entire.

« These are magnificent racing cars and it is a historic opportunity to be here to showcase them at the foot of Mount Panorama, relishes Sean Seamer boss of Supercars. The motorsport and automotive worlds have followed this announcement very closely, as it is a golden opportunity for our sport to showcase itself at different levels and attract a wider audience."

On site, Shane van Gisbergen (Triple Eight) and Anton De Pasquale (Dick Johnson Racing) had the opportunity to climb aboard the prototypes in order to complete a few laps. The first took the wheel of the Camaro, the second that of the Mustang.

« It's quite nice, what a privilege to be the first, rejoices Shane van Gisbergen. Hats off to Supercars and all the teams for their work. It was incredible. It's a big car but very friendly and sounds great. »
