Supercars – Will Davison first winner at Pukekohe

Whatever happens, this weekend will go down in the annals of Supercars. As announced a few weeks ago, this 10th weekend of competition will be the last time that the stars of Australian Supercars will put their wheels on the tarmac of the circuit located near Auckland. The Pukekohe complex will remain a place where races will be held, but it will be about horse racing.

For this first round, Davison (Dick Johnson Racing) showed himself to be uncompromising, taking advantage of the perfect adaptation of the American car to the very demanding track layout. Three Mustangs occupy the front rows of the 27th race of the season. Anton de Pasquale (Dick Johnson Racing), Davison's teammate and Cameron Waters (Tickford Racing) all got off to an excellent start. Shane Van Gisbergen (Triple Eight), the championship leader, is stuck in the top 10, unable to get his tires up to temperature. The New Zealand giant also complains about the behavior of its Commodore: “ the car is very nervous in high speed corners. I'm going to focus on this to try to improve this behavior for the rest of the weekend.» With 493 points ahead of Cameron Waters, VGS can afford to relax its lead a little. But that is not the state of mind of the Triple Eight driver who wants to make it a point of honor to win at home for the grand finale of Pukekohe.

In the race, Davison won the round ahead of Andre Heimgartner (Brad Jones Racing), who saved Holden's honor, and Cameron Waters who lost time in his pit stop. Van Gisbergen took the best lap in the race and a good fifth place acquired after a superb fight against Anton de Pasquale. There are two races remaining this Sunday, all the results can be found on Autohebdo.fr.
