V8 – Coulthard shines at the Sydney tests

Fabian Coulthard (Lockwood Racing) set the best time on the first day of V8 Supercars testing at Sydney Motorsport Park. With a lap completed in 1'30"478, the driver of the No. 14 Holden was six tenths ahead of the Jack Daniel's Racing Nissan Altima driven by Todd and Rick Kelly. “The weather made things complicated with alternating dry and wet conditions, which disrupted our program. But we were able to catch up at the end of the day”, commented the man who took sixth place in the Championship last year.

Craig Lowndes (Red Bull Racing Australia) and James Courtney (Holden Racing Team) followed by more than a second just ahead of the Holden of Shane van Gisbergen (Tekno Team VIP Petfoods). Lee Holdsworth placed first Mercedes of Erebus Racing in 14th place ahead of Jamie Whincup (Red Bull Racing Australia). The champion finished ahead of the first Ford in the peloton, the No. 6 driven by Chaz Mostert (Pepsi Max Crew FPR Ford), which was still 1” behind the reference time. Volvo follows in 7th position with the new S17 driven by Robert Dahlgren (Valvoline Racing GRM).

The times of the first two sessions can be found on this link.
