V8 – Fabian Coulthard on provisional pole at Bathurst 1000

Fabian Coulthard (Lockwood Racing) took provisional pole at Bathurst 1000 after setting a new lap record with a time of 2'05"6080. Shane van Gisbergen (Team Tekno VIP Petfoods) came closest, falling short by less than a tenth. Dale Wood (Team Advan) and Mark Winterbottom (Ford Pepsi Max Crew) are on the second row, six tenths behind.

Scott McLaughlin (GRM), who will have Alexandre Prémat as his teammate, completes the top five ahead of Jason Bright (Team BOC). If the first Holden of Triple Eight is in tenth place with the number 888 of Craig Lowndes, that of Jamie Whincup will start from the last row following the crash of the five-time champion. The shootout for pole will take place tomorrow.

Chaz Mostert has been banned from Bathurst 1000 qualifying for overtaking a competitor while the red flag was displayed. The driver of the factory No. 6 Ford he shares with Paul Morris will start from last position next to the sister No. 55 car driven by David Reynolds and Dean Canto. Mostert had achieved the 14th time in the first qualifying session.

The results of the first qualifying session can be consulted on this link.
