V8 – Lowndes and Whincup winners at Phillip Island
Race 1
Triple Eight Racing scored a one-two finish in the first 8-lap V14 Supercars race at Phillip Island. Craig Lowndes won ahead of teammate Jamie Whincup, after the two Holden drivers took the lead from pole sitter Scott McLaughlin (Volvo).
Shane van Gisbergen (Holden) took fourth place. The New Zealander clashed with David Reynolds who finished in last position. James Moffat (Nissan) completed the top five. Championship leader Mark Winterbottom (Ford) finished seventh behind James Courtney (Holden).
Race 2
Jamie Whincup took his 95th V8 Supercars victory after once again overtaking Scott McLaughlin. The Volvo driver was able to hold on to second place against Craig Lowndes. The Fords of Mark Winterbottom, David Reynolds and Scott Pye failed to reach the podium.
