V8 – New racing format in 2016

Gone are the two 60 km races on Saturday during the SuperSprint meetings in V8 Supercars in 2016. The organizers of the championship contested in the Antipodes have confirmed that these two events will be replaced by a single 120 km round with a mandatory pit stop.

In addition, the Auckland meetings in New Zealand and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia will host four 100 km races while the Coates Hire Sydney 500 meeting will offer two 250 km races.

Soft tires will be required in 2016, except for the events at Bathurst, Philip Island and the one organized alongside the Grand Prix of F1 from Australia to Melbourne. 400 tires per car compared to 324 previously will also be allocated, all with the aim of offering a better show according to officials.
