V8SC: Jamie Whincup wins but?

Jamie Whincup is definitely in the crosshairs of V8 Supercars officials. Already penalized in Adelaide, the 2013 champion is under investigation for contact with Craig Lowndes, his teammate. The latter had gained the upper hand over the double pole-sitter of the weekend from the start and had maintained his advantage until the intervention of the Safety-Car for the exit of Rick Kelly. After the restart, Whincup tried everything to regain the lead, until this daring attempt on the 26th lap which sent his teammate off the track.
After this muscular contact, Whincup won and for the moment collected 75 points for victory. Quite the opposite of Lowndes, who only finished 6th in the end, he who had started from the first row and had gained the upper hand over his teammate. But contact on the 26th lap, out of 42 in the race, ruined his hopes of victory. He will start at the back of the pack for the second race after discovering a hole in one of the windows of his Holden, which officials consider to be a potential aerodynamic advantage.

James Courtney benefits from the muscular explanation of the two pilots of the Red Bull Racing Australia to finish in 2nd position in this first round with his Holden from Holden Racing. He is ahead of Mark Winterbottom (Ford Falcon Pepsi Max Crew), Russell Ingall (Holden Repair Managment Aus Racing) and Scott McLaughlin who places Polestar Racing's first Volvo in the Top 5.
