V8SC – Scott McLaughlin at the end of the suspense

The finish of the 200 km race at Phillip Island in V8SC will remain one of the highlights of this 2014 season. Garth Tander (Holden Racing Team) seemed well on his way to winning but in the last corner, he broke down of fuel and ultimately lost to the Polstar Racing Volvo driven by Scott McLaughlin. A few laps earlier, Tander had been warned by his team to watch his fuel consumption, but the Holden Commodore driver's efforts were not enough. Thanks to his success, McLaughlin performed excellently in the championship, moving up to fifth position.

The podium of this last race at Phillip Island in Australia is completed by the Ford Falcon of Mark Winterbottom who had passed the whole new champion Jamie Whincup, during the last pit stop. The V8 Supercars will return to the track from December 5 to 7 for the final round of the championship in Sydney.

Find the report of the Phillip Island round in V8SC, in issue 1987 of AUTOhebdo, available from tomorrow evening in digital version and from next Wednesday on newsstands.
