Vanina Ickx continues with Belgian Racing

At the start of 2011, Vanina Ickx's schedule was not the busiest. Gradually, it completes itself and above all becomes very interesting. After having thought about only participating in the Belgian round of the FIA GT1 world championship in Zolder, Vanina will finally compete in the remaining eight rounds of the season at the wheel of a Ford GT entered by Belgian Racing.

“The good news comes one after the other at an incredible pace, she admits on the speedactiontv.be website. Just a few weeks ago, I didn't have a single plan. Since Zolder, it continues to intensify with the prospect of being able to ride at 24 Hours of Le Mans and the guarantee of competing in the rest of the FIA GT1. I can never thank Marc van der Straten and Olivier Baglione enough for these exceptional opportunities. »

Olivier Baglione, boss of the Orbello company, is the owner of the Lola-Aston Martin that Kronos Racing hopes to be able to enter at the next 24 Hours of Le Mans (see here). The beautiful English coupe, which receives technical support from the Marc VDS Racing Team, is first on the list of LMP substitutes at the Le Mans event. Last Sunday, he was at Le Mans in the hands of the Vanina Ickx-Maxime Martin-Bas Leinders trio for the test day.

In the FIA GT1 world championship, Vanina Ickx will share the wheel of her Ford GT with Dane Christoffer Nygaard. The sister car will be entrusted to Frenchman Antoine Leclerc and Czech Martin Matzke.
