Scott McLaughlin (Ford) is a man in a hurry. The New Zealander, already on provisional pole for the Bathurst 1000 on Friday, once again demonstrated its superiority with the best time in the Shootout, reserved for the 10 fastest cars in the traditional tests.

Faster by four tenths compared to Chaz Mostert (Ford), Scott McLaughlin hit hard with neither more nor less than the fastest lap in a Supercars on this very technical track. In 2’03’378, he beat the previous record… which he already held since the 2017 edition (2’03’’831)!
“Coming down the hill I was going really fast and I thought ‘damn, I just have to hang on’, summed up the pole sitter, who shares his Ford Mustang with the Frenchman Alexandre Prémat for the occasion.
The latter thus hasa real opportunity to become the first representative from France to win the Bathurst 1000 on their list of achievements.
Behind, we find Chaz Mostert-James Moffat (Ford), followed by Cameron Waters-Michael Caruso (Ford). The first Holden is fourth thanks to the experienced Jamie Whincup-Craig Lowndes.
The Bathurst 1000 will begin Sunday night at 2:30 am French time for a duration of 161 turns.
