BMW reveals a preview of its M4 GT4

As confirmed by the official announcement of the FFSA, which with the assistance of SRO Motorsports, will relaunch the French GT Championship based on this category, GT4 is experiencing significant growth, particularly in Europe, with the British GT and the GT4 European Series.

The manufacturers have made no mistake and are developing, for many, a car that meets the regulations, such as McLaren with the 570S or even Porsche with his Cayman ClubSport. BMW will be the next to join the category, with the arrival for 2018 of an M4 which will replace the current M3.

“We see enormous potential worldwide for BMW private teams, comments Jens Marquardt, boss of the Motorsport division of the Bavarian firm. Developing a racing car like this and offering it to our customers has always been one of the core competencies of BMW Motorsport.

This was also the case with the previous model, the BMW M3 GT4, which is still in action in several series around the world. The BMW M4 Coupé provides the ideal basis for our new GT4 model. This is a solid basis for our engineers to fill the gap between the BMW M6 GT3 and the BMW M235i Racing for newcomers with a car that is very sporty in its production version. »

This M4 GT4 will take over the entire powertrain and electronics of the M4 Coupe. The carbon hood will come from the BMW M4 GTS. The front splitter and rear wing will be specific, and the car will benefit from a racing exhaust system. The seat, the brakes and the solutions used for the pedals will be taken from the M6 GT3.
