Bortolotti places Lamborghini on pole at the 24 Hours of Dubai

The winter break was short-lived for Mirko Bortolotti. The 29-year-old Italian returned behind the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO during qualifying for the 24 Hours of Dubai, held on Thursday January 10, and took pole position.

The Blancpain GT Series champion Endurance Cup 2017 (already with Lamborghini) led the GRT Grasser Racing Team car to first place in the session in the middle of a field of 85 competitors. “You always have to work for pole, specifies Mirko Bortolotti, and even more here.

This is my third time in Dubai. I got three front row starts and two poles. I'm really, really satisfied. This is a great way to start the year! »

The crew of the No. 63 (Bortolotti-Engelhart-R.Ineichen-M.Ineichen) is ahead of the Audi R8 LMS of VerviscHaase-Parfofer-Breukers by almost two tenths. The second row will be entirely made up of Audi R8 LMS, with WRT (D.Vanthoor-Mies-Vergers-Al-Saud) ahead of Mücke Motorsport (Winkelhock-Mücke-Ortmann-Weishaupt-Feller).

The GT3 pack is disrupted by the old Corvette C6-ZR1 of the Dutch from V8 Racing (Braams-Huisman-Nathan-Abresch-Hutchison). This GTE took second place in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2011 with the official Corvette Racing team in GTE-Pro. No Frenchman ranked among the top 20.

The start of the 24 Hours of Dubai, first round of the Creventic Series, will be given on Friday January 11 at 10 a.m. French time.
