Dominated by the Ford Mustangs in 2019, the Holden Commodore of Triple Eight reacted brilliantly on the Australian Gold Coast this Saturday, October 26. The men of the officially named team Red Bull Holden Racing scored a one-two finish in Race 1 in Brisbane.

Two legends of the discipline, Jamie Whincup and the newly retired Craig Lowndes, beat the Shane van Gisbergen-Garth Tander crew by only five tenths. This is Jamie Whincup’s ninth success on this urban track.
“Craig did a fantastic job putting us in the lead at the end of his stint, admitted Jamie Whincup. I thought we were in danger after a late neutralization but the car was impeccable. »
Bathurst 1000 winners, the New Zealander Scott McLaughlin and the French Alexandre Prémat (Ford), are satisfied with the last step of the podium. The championship leader could secure a second consecutive Drivers’ title on Sunday in the event of a similar performance.
This race took place without Chaz Mostert or James Moffat (Ford). The chassis of the Mustang they shared was irreversibly damaged during qualifying. The pilot fortunately escaped unhurt.
