The Lausitzring circuit is annexed by Audi this weekend of the German Touring Championship (DTM). After a quadruple in qualifying, spectators witnessed a hat-trick in Race 1, Saturday August 24.
Pole sitter René Rast was at the front of the favorites for victory, but that was without taking into account a mechanical failure after only seven laps! Starting at the bottom of the rankings, the 2017 champion gave up a few moments later.

It's a bad deal for the leader of the general classification, who after this event only counts 14 points ahead of Nico Müller. The latter contained the threat embodied by Robin Frijns (Audi) and Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) until the finish.
Starting from an average 11th place, Loïc duval (Audi) took advantage of a staggered pit stop strategy to move up to sixth position.
