C2 – Müller ends the season with a victory in the rain

The rain accompanied the entire last day of the 2019 season DTM in Hockenheim (Germany), Sunday October 6. This gave rise to a start full of entertainment and track excursions, giving rise to a brief red flag.

Once the peloton calmed down, the Audis led the proceedings. For a time, we believed that René Rast was going to teach his rivals a lesson. Starting 10th, the fresh champion was already in second place in half a lap!

However, the German would slow down after his pit-stop. Passed by Nico Müller, then Mike Rockenfeller, he was content with the last step of the podium. In front of him, Nico Müller signed his third victory this season, and secured the honorary position of vice-champion.

Other manufacturers only take crumbs. The best BMW finished fourth with Timo Glock. As for Aston Martin, Jake Dennis is eighth, after the retirements due to mechanical problems of Paul di Resta on the warm-up lap and Daniel Juncadella after a passage.

The main attraction of this meeting was the presence of three cars from the Super GT. By starting from the second half of the grid, any hope of performance was diminished.

The best representative of the Japanese championship, Nick Cassidy (Lexus, 16th time) retired on the first lap after a collision with Jonathan Aberdein (Audi). Ronnie Quintarelli (Nissan, 21st time), after two pit stops, finished last, more than a lap behind the winner.

Once again, Jenson Button (Honda) tried to save the honor. The world champion of Formula 1 2009 finished in 16th place, without having made any mistakes.
