David Coulthard continues in DTM

« JI always said I didn?t hang up my helmet for good because I didn?t think the race was over for me “, announced David Coulthard “ I just knew that my career in F1 was over ". The former pilot McLaren Mercedes, who was an F1 consultant for the BBC, will remain with the star manufacturer in the Championship DTM of the 2011 season, continuing his role as consultant for the British media. “ I worked with McLaren Mercedes for seven years. I have now joined Mercedes in a professional championship, which runs technically advanced cars. »

David Coulthard left the world of F1 in 2008 and never thought of returning to this discipline. “ I had a call from a team but I never responded favorably because the people involved in F1 know that I do not want to return. However, I missed the adrenaline of competition every day because I knew the pleasure of racing. If I can do a Championship that gives me time for my other activities and I can drive a racing car again, why wouldn't I take this opportunity? I'm almost 40 years old, and I won't be offered a steering wheel in ten years. »

The former McLaren driver is therefore alongside other former F1 drivers, starting with Ralf Schumacher, as well as reserve drivers Gary Paffett and Paul di Resta.
