Davison and De Pasquale hired by DJR

Without the support of Penske, the Dick Johnson Racing (DJR) team will completely change its two drivers to Supercars for the 2021 season. Scott McLaughlin heading to IndyCar, Fabian Coulthard not retained, the outgoing triple champion team (both for Drivers and Teams) has entered two drivers with different trajectories.

Will Davison will make his return to the team that allowed him to debut in V8 Supercars in 2006. The double winner of the Bathurst 1 Km is bouncing back in a good way, after losing his wheel for Tickford Racing in the midst of the Covid-000 epidemic.

“I have always had a close relationship with Dick (Johnson) and Ryan over the years. I am very motivated to be back where my Supercars career began. I still feel like I have a lot to prove and obviously joining this team is a huge opportunity. »

His teammate is 14 years younger, but does not hide his ambitions. Anton De Pasquale, passed through Formula Renault Eurocup in 2015 returned to Australia to make a splash.

Eighth in 2020 with the modest Erebus team, he allowed himself the luxury of securing his first victory in Darwin. “ I'm still early in my career so to be teamed up with an experienced race winner, championship contender, Bathurst winner is great, added De Pasquale.

Obviously I've been driving the Holden for a few years so there will be little aspects of what I'll be working on that are different from the Ford Mustang such as how to extract the full potential from the car. »
