DTM – BMW hires Tom Blomqvist

After Mercedes last Friday, it is the turn of BMW to complete its lines for the 2015 season of DTM German. The propeller brand announced the recruitment of the Briton Tom blomqvist, son of 1984 World Rally Champion Stig Blomqvist, to drive the eighth M4 entered this year.

Tom Blomqvist played in the FIA ​​last year F3 European Championship, and had finished 2nd in the general classification behind the Frenchman Esteban Ocon with six victories to his credit. The 21-year-old driver took part in testing last December with BMW on the Andalusian track of Jerez. “We are delighted to welcome another very promising young person to our ranks with Tom, says BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt. Tom was very impressive during testing at Jerez, and comes with a wealth of Formula 3 experience. I am confident he has what it takes to adapt quickly to the DTM. »

The latter joins the drivers already confirmed by BMW for 2015, namely the reigning champion Marco Wittmann, Maxime Martin, Augusto Farfus, Bruno Spengler, Martin Tomczyk, Timo Glock and António Félix da Costa. The first round of the DTM will take place on the weekend of May 1 at Hockenheim.
