​The Mercedes driver won the first race of the weekend at the Hungaroring, moving up twelve places after difficult qualifying.

DTM – C1 – Di Resta unexpected winner in Hungary

Audi had dominated the first qualifying practice session with its six cars in the top 7, Rene Rast on your mind. In the first round, the German maintained his advantage over Jamie Green who lost a place to Mattias Ekström. The positions at the front of the peloton did not change during the first minutes of racing. Paul DiResta (Mercedes),Timo Glock (BMW) and Bruno spengler (BMW) took the opportunity to observe their tire changes.

A lap later, Maxime Martin (BMW) stopped on the track, leading to the intervention of the safety car. At the green flag, Ekström took the lead. Several incidents punctuated the race such as a collision between Augusto Farfus (BMW), Lucas Auer (Mercedes) and Loïc duval (Hear).

The three drivers who stopped before the safety car finished the race on the podium, namely Paul Di Resta, who started 13e, winner, Timo Glock (BMW), 2e and Bruno Spengler (BMW) 3e. Despite a stop two minutes from the end, Mike Rockenfeller brought Audi to the foot of the podium after qualifying dominated by the Ingolstadt brand.

Ekström finished 5e of the event ahead of pole sitter Rast and Green. Garry Paffet (Mercedes) finished 8e ahead of Marco Wittmann (BMW) and Edoardo Mortara (Mercedes). Despite a 7e place in qualifying, Loïc Duval (Audi) was forced to retire.
