Max Martin (BMW) scored its second victory at the Nürburgring in DTM by winning Race 1 where he started from the front row. The Belgian took advantage of the pole sitter's bad start lucas auer (Mercedes) and resisted contact with pascal wehrlein (Mercedes) to maintain control of the race quickly neutralized following an accident between Audi drivers Jamie Green and Miguel Molina.
After falling to fourth place and having explained himself to Maxime Martin during the interruption, the Championship leader climbed to the last step of the podium, finishing behind Edward Mortara (Audi) and ahead of the C63 AMG DTM by Gary Paffett, Maximilian Götz and Lucas Auer.
After starting from 17th position, Mattias Ekstrom (Audi) moved up to tenth place to save a point. But the Swede was nevertheless caught in the Championship by Edoardo Mortara for a one point gap. Pascal Wehrlein now has a 27-unit lead.
Qualifying for Race 2 of the DTM at the Nürburgring will be contested this Sunday, September 27 from 10:55 a.m. while the start will be given at 13:35 p.m.
