Miguel Molina (Audi) scored his second victory of the season by winning Race 1 of the DTM in Hockenheim. The Spaniard dominated the event after taking the advantage at the start over pole sitter Antonio Félix da Costa (BMW) who is competing in his last meeting in the discipline.

The winner won with more than a second ahead of Marco Wittmann (BMW) who gained two positions in the race. The Championship leader has taken yet another step towards the title since he now has a 17-point lead over his direct rival Edoardo Mortara (Audi). The Italian managed to move up from eighth to third place to maintain his chances of winning the title by beating the pole sitter.
Mike Rockenfeller (Audi), the replacement for Mattias Ekström retained in World RX, completed the top five ahead of René Rast (Audi), his replacement within Phoenix Racing. Timo Glock (BMW) took seventh position ahead of Jamie Green (Audi) and Tom Blomqvist (BMW). Paul di Resta is the only driver Mercedes in the top ten.
Adrien Tambay (Audi) took 12th place after starting from 23rd. The Frenchman preceded the Belgian Maxime Martin (BMW).
