DTM: Scheider crowned

Despite his four victories this season, compared to two successes for Timo Scheider, Gary Paffett did not manage to win the title in DTM. This is due to less regularity than the German driver, who was on the podium six times in ten races.

Gary Paffett will have tried everything. Knowing that he had to win, hoping for a poor performance from Scheider, in order to win the title, the driver Mercedes pursued an aggressive strategy. He achieved his goals, winning the race - but saw Timo Scheider second him, securing the points necessary for his second consecutive crown.

« It's a moment in my life that I can't describe, commented Timo Scheider. I owe that to my team, to Audi and above all to my family. This makes me proud. I had a lot of pressure on my shoulders, due to the fact that I was defending my title. Gary was a tough opponent and would have deserved the title as well. »

« This season we have won four victories, declared Gary Paffett for his part. This means that we have had a very good car throughout the year. However, in certain races, everything did not go well. I think the Barcelona and Nürburgring races cost me the title. We didn't win the championship and obviously I'm disappointed now. However, we can be satisfied. We had a good season. »
