Bruno Spengler takes pole on the Lausitzring circuit with a time of 1'18"777. the Franco-Canadian, who achieves the 12th pole of his career in the discipline, is ahead of the other M3 DTM of Augusto Farfus by less than a tenth. Mercedes takes third position with the Briton Gary Paffett, winner of the first race at Hockenheim. Mike Rockenfeller and Edoardo Mortara follow in their Audi A5 DTMs.
Jamie Green (Mercedes) is sixth ahead of defending champion Martin Tomczyk (BMW). Mattias Ekström (Audi) took eighth place ahead of Spaniard Miguel Molina (Audi). Frenchman Adrien Tambay (Audi) was not discouraged by his retirement during the first event and took tenth place, less than a second from the pole time.
