DTM – Tomczyk disappointed at Norisring

The German driver quickly took the lead of the race and kept it until the last corner of this fifth round of the season. DTM. While he seemed to be able to score his first victory with the propeller firm, the 2011 champion was overtaken a few meters before the finish line by Jamie Green. “ It's such a shame to lead the race until the 75th lap, and then lose everything on the last. You drive for many laps with maximum concentration in these weather conditions, and then lose everything so close to the goal? This is the worst thing that could happen», relates Tomczyk.

Tomczyk also discussed the confusions with his team regarding the number of laps remaining, misunderstandings which certainly cost him the victory. Normally 82 laps long, the race was stopped at the time limit due to rain. But when the checkered flag was raised, the BMW team thought there was still one last lap left.

« If I had known we were on the last lap, I would have defended Jamie more vigorously, explains the German. I got different information from my team. The sign told me there were still eleven laps to go, the radio told me five, when in reality there were only four left.

Tomczyk is now fourth in the championship, four points behind his teammate Spengler.
