DTM – Wickens wins at the Nürburgring

Robert Wickens took his first victory of the season in DTM by winning Race 2 at the Nürburgring. The Canadian took the advantage over polesitter Marco Wittmann (BMW) during the stops and never left the lead even though he remained under pressure from Paul di Resta.

The former Force India driver finally offers a double to Mercedes while BMW Team RBM resident completed the podium. The Scot made up for lost time from a bad pit stop by also overtaking the M4 DTMs of Augusto Farfus and Tom Blomqvist, ultimately 9th and 10th at the finish.

Bruno Spengler (BMW) and Maro Engel (Mercedes) completed the top five ahead of Mattias Ekström (Audi). The boss of the EKS team leaves the Nürburgring with a nine-point lead over Lucas Auer (Mercedes), the winner from the day before who only took 13th place in Race 2 behind Maxime Martin (BMW) and René Rast (Audi). The German started from the back of the grid after receiving a five-place grid penalty and lost further time during his stop.

Timo Glock (BMW) managed to finish eighth behind Jamie Green (Audi) despite an accident with Nico Müller's RS5 DTM. Loïc duval (Audi) arrived in 15th place.
