19 entered for the debut of the GT3 era

The first campaign of DTM GT3 version promises a lot. If the choice to leave Class One behind has been criticized, the organizers can today congratulate themselves on a successful bet.

A little less than two months before the start, the first entry list shows 19 drivers, some of whom have passed through the Formula 1 like Timo Glock and Christian Klien (in a few races) or even former DTM champions like Mike Rockenfeller.

Reserve pilot Red Bull in F1, Alex Albon will participate in certain rounds of the season on a Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo from AF Corse. When he is absent, the Thai will be replaced by Nick Cassidy.

France will also be represented through Vincent Abril, who will lead the Mercedes-AMG GT3 from Team HRT.

In addition to Ferrari and Mercedes, Audi, McLaren and BMW complete the list of manufacturers involved in this first year of GT3.

In total, no less than 19 drivers appear in this first provisional list of the 2021 season. With great names like Marco Wittmann, Nico Müller, Kelvin van der Linde and even Gary Paffett, the beginnings of the GT3 era could be sparkling.

The first round of the season is scheduled for Monza from June 18 to 20.
