Double vice-world champion MotoGP 2017 and 2018, the Italian Andrea Dovizioso will guest drive an Audi RS 5 during the Italian round of DTM on the Misano route on June 8 and 9.
The resident of the Ducati team will thus benefit from the links between the motorcycle brand and Audi, the German firm having bought the Bologna entity and will replace Pietro Fittipaldi within Team WRT, the Brazilian being held in F1 with Haas F1 Team in Canada.
“I love cars and I feel lucky to be able to race with the Audi RS 5 DTM, explains the Transalpine. It's difficult to find time to prepare during the MotoGP season, but I'm really looking forward to racing in something as competitive as the DTM.
The car is incredible, but the challenge is different from my Desmosedici and I have to prepare myself. So I did a lot of laps in the simulator before getting into the seat for the first time.
Misano is a special track for all Italian drivers and the place where I had an incredible victory last year, so I am very excited and grateful for this opportunity. »
Dovizioso was able to test the Audi RS 5 in Neuburg yesterday Tuesday, before another test session scheduled for May 22 and 23 in Misano.
