Auer dominates Hockenheim tests, Abril in the tempo

Le DTM was back in action this week for two days of testing on the Hockenheim track for the first outing of the GT3s which will be entered this year in the German series.

And from the outset, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo showed their fangs with the absolute best time for Lucas Auer (Team Winward), carried out on the second day. The former resident of the program Red Bull Junior signed a reference lap in 1'36″153, ahead of Vincent Abril (Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo – HRT) by 20 thousandths over the various sessions.

Followed by Dani Juncadella (Mercedes – Team GruppeM), Philip Ellis (Mercedes – Team Winward) and Maxi Götz (Mercedes – HRT) for a top 5 100% made up of star-studded cars. 7th on the second day, Mike Rockenfeller is the best Audi driver, with his R8 LMS GT3 Evo – Abt.

Alex Albon (Ferrari 488 GT3 – Alpha Tauri AF Corse) and Liam Lawson (Ferrari 488 GT3 – Red Bull AF Corse) entered the top 10 of the second day. The drivers were also able to discover Michelin tires, the French manufacturer being the official supplier of the series.

Another running session will take place from May 4-6 at the Lausitzring, before the season kicks off from June 18-20 at Monza in Italy.
