Bruno Spengler regains the advantage

Bruno Spengler could well regain the lead of the Championship at the end of this weekend. The pilot Mercedes won pole on the Norisring circuit ahead of Gary Paffett and Jamie Green, two other drivers from the star manufacturer.

Mattias Ekström is the first Audi driver on the starting grid. The Swede will start from fourth place on the grid ahead of Ralf Schumacher (Mercedes) and Maro Engel (Mercedes). Martin Tomczyk, leader of the Championship with one point ahead of the pole-sitter, will only start from tenth position.

For his return to DTM after his accident 24 Hours of Le Mans, Mike Rockenfeller places his Audi A4 in a mediocre 17th place. Despite his absence, the German still occupies fourth place in the Championship behind Timo Scheider (Audi).
