C1 – Rast a little closer to the title, Müller penalized at the Nürburgring

The duel between René Rast (Audi) and Nico Müller (Audi) for the 2019 title of DTM may have definitively swung in favor of the first named after Race 1 at the Nürburgring. René Rast converted his pole position into victory, but above all, he took advantage of an error in concentration from his rival.

Positioned in third place on the starting grid, Nico Müller left his position before the lights went out. The stewards reacted very quickly by requiring him to pass through the pits (drive through). The German was the last competitor to cross the finish line (16th).

In the championship, René Rast has a 47-point lead with only three races remaining to argue. The podium is completed by two BMW M4s, those of Bruno Spengler and Marco Wittmann, after Mike Rockenfeller (Audi), then second, retired due to mechanical problems.

Rookie Jonathan Aberdein (Audi) finished just off the podium, ahead of an attacking Loïc duval (Audi). The first one Aston Martin Vantage is that of Daniel Juncadella, 10th.
