Rene Rast (Audi) will have carried out three meetings of DTM idyllic, that was not enough; Gary Paffett (Mercedes) was crowned for the second time in his career Sunday in Hockenheim (Germany) during the very last race of the 2018 season.
" Thanks guys ! You deserve this title, it's been a fantastic year, said the Briton as soon as the line was crossed on his radio. It's the best day of my life. This season has not been easy, there have been difficult moments, but the car has been great. »
The English driver, already titled in 2005, kept his cool to maintain his third place throughout the event (except during the wave of pit stops). This result was enough for his happiness, despite a perfect copy of René Rast.

The latter did everything to keep his crown, notably by taking the lead from the first corner. He thus improves his record of consecutive victories (six), unheard of in DTM.

The third candidate for the title, who arrived at Hockenheim at the top of the general classification, sank in each session. Paul di Resta (Mercedes) ends the year in an anonymous 14th position, and drops to third overall. French Loïc duval (Audi) misses the points with 12th place.
