Dirk Werner completes BMW DTM list

BMW wants to strike a big blow for its return to DTM. Armed with the new M3 DTM, the propeller firm has a list of prestigious drivers to fight against Audi and Mercedes. Dirk Werner, third in the ALMS GT category, joins the German Touring Car Championship and finds himself alongside Augusto Farfus, Joey Hand, Andy Priaulx, Bruno Spengler and Martin Tomczyk, the reigning champion of the discipline. After having scored one pole and five podiums this season, Dirk Werner secured his place by displaying interesting performances during testing.

“Dirk Werner was the ideal driver to complete our driver list”, comments Jens Marquardt. “The result of our efforts over the last few months gives us a list with which we hope to achieve great things in the DTM. She combines speed, experience and a host of world titles. We have two North American drivers (Bruno Spengler and Joey Hand), one South American (Augusto Farfus), one British (Andy Priaulx) and two Germans (Martin Tomczyk and Dirk Werner). We will decide over the coming weeks how our six drivers will be distributed among our three teams. »
