DTM – Audi does not change its objective

Last year in DTM, Audi won with Mike Rockenfeller. This season, while we expected the RS5s to perform to their advantage, it is clear that at the start of the second half of the season, the brand with the rings has still not reached the highest step of the podium. . Even Mercedes, which appeared in clear difficulty since the opening at Hockenheim, won two successes at the Norisring on an admittedly specific track, and at Oschersleben in difficult weather conditions. Audi is targeting this weekend in Austria on the Red Bull Ring neither more nor less than success.

“The track has worked quite well for us in the past, which necessarily makes us optimistic, admits Dieter Gass, head of DTM at Audi. We learned from the Moscow weekend and are fully focused on preparing for the second half of the season. »

All eyes will obviously be on Mike Rockenfeller, the reigning champion, who saw his race ruined in Russia in a collision with Frenchman Adrien Tambay. “Spielberg is a track where we have seen a lot of thrilling races in the past. Moscow remains a disappointment, it's true - but our speed was good and the work in the team was excellent despite that. If we continue the trip to Austria, we have a good chance of bringing home a trophy. »

The first tests on the Red Bull Ring will begin at 17:45 p.m. on Friday.
