DTM – BMW focused on the Manufacturers’ title?

The last two rounds of the DTM didn't really smile at Bruno Spengler. After five consecutive races in the points, the Canadian left the Moscow Raceway and the Nürburgring empty-handed. Two blank results are not doing his business, since heading into the eighth stage of the season, this weekend in Oschersleben, he only occupies fourth position in the general classification, 39 points behind leader Mike Rockenfeller.

In the Manufacturers' ranking, on the other hand, BMW still occupies the lead. With 251 points on the clock, the Munich brand is ahead Mercedes and Audi, which are respectively 22 and 49 units behind. From then on, the main objective will be to maintain this place, as confirmed by Jens Marquardt, director of BMW Motorsport. “The short break after the intensive Nürburgring race weekend did us all good, he admits. We are ready for Oschersleben. Last year, Bruno Spengler led the race from start to finish, and we managed to place three BMWs in the top five. With the championship entering its home stretch, we are now focusing on the general classification. Our goal is to defend our leading position in the Manufacturers' Championship. The Drivers' Championship is not yet lost, although we are not in the most comfortable position. However, we will fight as long as it is mathematically playable. We want to be ready in case the slightest opportunity to take the advantage presents itself. For this, we will have to give the best of ourselves in Oschersleben in order to face the last two races of the season in a good position. »

As a reminder, two BMW drivers managed to win this season, namely the Brazilian Augusto Farfus and the Canadian Bruno Spengler. Dirk Werner, Marco Wittmann and Timo Glock managed to get on the podium.
