DTM – BMW can’t wait to test itself

This weekend, in Hockenheim, the 2012 season will begin. DTM. A season marked by the return of BMW to the discipline. The propeller firm arrives with undisguised ambitions, as proven by the recruitments from Germany Martin Tomczyk and the Canadian Bruno Spengler, respectively best representatives of Audi and Mercedes last year. And if BMW is aware of having less experience than its rivals, the director of the sporting branch of the Munich firm admits that everyone is now eager to see where the M3 DTM stands in relation to its adversaries that are the A5 DTM and the C-Class Coupé.

“After a long preparation, everyone is dying to race and finally see where we stand compared to the competition, underlines Jens Marquardt. We have many months of work behind us, and certainly an exciting and informative season ahead of us. Hockenheim has a special place in BMW history, and we had major successes there between 1984 and 1992. We obviously want to pick up the story where we left off, but we're going to have to take it step by step . First of all, it is vital for us to learn and gain experience. Everyone on the team is extremely motivated. It will undoubtedly be a special weekend. Not only for the fans, but also for all BMW Motorsport staff”. And with pilots of the caliber, among others, of Bruno Spengler, Martin Tomczyk, Augusto Farfus or Andy Priaulx, to name but a few, a surprise cannot be ruled out.
