DTM – BMW, power 4 in Austria

Poleman yesterday in the final moments of qualifying, Robert Wickens (Mercedes) had restored the image of the firm to the star, somewhat tarnished since the start of the season, despite two victories. This Sunday, the Canadian perfectly dominated the start of the race, notably repelling the attacks of Augusto Farfus (BMW ) at the start of the test. But the driver of the AMG C-Coupé will see his race ruined in the pits. Released in a dangerous manner against Timo Glock, Wickens will suffer a drive-through, already devastating in his quest for victory.

If Mercedes will try to negotiate and assert its point of view with the commissioners, the latter will not hear the star's appeal. Worse, they are going to wave the black flag at Wickens who had not respected his drive-through! A controversial decision which allows BMW to sign a quadruple on Austrian soil. It's Marco Wittmann, leader of the championship before the meeting of Red Bull Ring, who finally won and consolidated his leadership position overall with 36 points ahead of Mattias Ekström. Augusto Farfus and Timo Glock complete the podium just ahead of Martin Tomczyk. Timo Scheider places the first Audi RS5 in 5th position after a disappointing weekend for the brand with the rings. Adrien Tambay finished 6th. The first Mercedes of Christian Vietoris took 9th position.

The next round of DTM will take place on August 17 at the Nürburgring.
