Bruno Spengler (BMW) could become the new rival of Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) in the fight for the title in DTM. The reigning champion won his second pole of the season at Oschersleben after completing a lap in 1'20"140 in the final qualifying session. The Canadian beat Jamie Green's Audi by a tenth, who will start alongside him. Augusto Farfus (BMW) will share the second row with the Championship leader who could well get a little closer to the coronation this weekend.
The German actually managed to avoid the pitfalls of the changing weather in the first part of qualifying, unlike his direct opponents Robert Wickens who was only eleventh and Christian Vietoris who only started from 20th place. The pilots Mercedes both gained a position on the grid following the five-place penalty imposed on Gary Paffett, who qualified in seventh place behind Dirk Werner (BMW) and Filipe Albuquerque (Audi), and Daniel Juncadella who will have to start from the back grid after taking 20th position. Adrien Tambay will also benefit since the Frenchman will start from 10th place.
